Community Picnic & Open Day with Stranraer Brass

To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Castle Kennedy Gardens will be holding a whole host of events over the month of June, the highlight of which will take place on Sunday 5th June with Stranraer Brass, a Community Picnic, and a free entry Open Day.

On Sunday the 5th of June the award-winning Stranraer Brass will play in Castle Kennedy Gardens from 2.30pm until 4.00pm.  The local community and visitors to the area are invited to enjoy the wonderful music in the beautiful surroundings of the gardens for free during the Open Day.

Bring a picnic, blankets, or low-chairs and share the day or afternoon with family and friends.  Swap stories and reminisce over the last seven decades of her majesty’s reign.

The Tea Room will have a themed menu of wonderful treats and drinks, and visitors are also encouraged to bring their own picnic too.  Don’t forget to stop by the Gift Shop and pick up a packet of Commemorative Wildflower Seeds.

Join in the festivities and dress to impress, as there will be opportunities to take selfies and share the experience with your family and friends.

A Platinum Jubilee Trail will take place throughout the month of June and will be a fun activity for all ages.  With questions about the Platinum Jubilee to facts and points of interest about the Queen and Castle Kennedy Gardens royal visits.  Track down the questions around the gardens and complete the crossword to reveal a hidden word. Your efforts will be rewarded with a delicious sweetie prize or a packet of Commemorative Wildflower Seeds at the end.

On Friday 3 June, our Garden Ranger returns and is set to entertain with our wonderfully engaging and popular Pond Dipping & Recycled Kite Making activities.  Don’t miss seeing some of our huge newts.  Book online to secure your space.

A Platinum Jubilee General Knowledge Quiz will also be available to test our visitors and all correct entries will be entered into a free prize draw to win the new commemorative rose.
